I have been experiencing intermittent internet outages at my QTH the last several weeks. Several attempts have been made by Spectrum at repairs, but I don’t believe the problem has been corrected. Of course it always works fine when they are here. A new cable modem, a repaired coax cable line at the pole, and then replacing the whole coax line from the pole to my house (250ft) does not seem to have fixed it.
So far, the actual downtime has been minimal, but it will affect the bridge between XLX927 and the XARC Wires-X Room 21704, and also the Wires-X node for our 2 meter repeater.
It can be weeks between dropouts, or it can happen several times in one day. Often it only lasts for a few minutes.
The Wires-X node will recover when service comes back and connect to the default room 21704, but the hotspots that are part of the bridge to XLX927 will lose the connection and need to be manually reconnected (as of now). If I am not in the shack or not home it obviously won’t be re-established until I can get to it.
If a repeater user changed the node to another room, that connection will be lost and need to be re-established if desired.
The XLX927 reflector itself will still operate, as it is located on a cloud server. Just the bridge to wires-x will be affected.
None of this affects regular repeater operation on FM or digital C4FM. I will update when things are back to normal.
